A Johns Hopkins start up who left to sprout in Silicon Valley has returned to their roots, in Baltimore MD. Galen was founded in 2016, based on research spun out of the Laboratory of Computational Sensing and Robotics at Johns Hopkins University. Russell Taylor, director of the lab, and researcher Kevin Olds invented the robotic system with the goal of helping prevent complications that could be caused by hand tremor during lengthy or precise microsurgeries.
After a brief move to California the company is back in MD and has landed permanent space in 1100 Wicomico and plans to quickly scale its operations and grow its staff from 25 to up to 150 employees.
